Payroll Director
- Provide strategic leadership for the payroll department; supervise payroll administrators and staff
- Serve as subject matter expert in strategic planning concerning new or projected areas of technology or operations direction
- Provide knowledge of accounting procedures with regard to payroll
- Enhance payroll procedures in compliance with payroll standards and best practices
- Lead special projects including timekeeping and payroll systems upgrades, new third party vendors, year end enhancements and policy and procedures changes
- Interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
- Partner with IT, Accounting, and HR to research, resolve, test and reconcile system, payroll or accounting issues
- Manage staffing needs to accomplish objectives and growth
- Experience with Canadian payroll
- 7-10 years payroll experience; bachelors degree and CPP preferred
- Multi-state experience for all facets of payroll; strong taxation experience needed
- Experience managing payroll department for 5,000+ employees
- Experience with acquisitions
- Strong communication skills needed; also proven supervisory experience
Manager of Accounting
- Manage month end financial closing process; prepare financial statements and other reports for management and the board of directors
- Perform general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable process
- Coordinate, manage, and play integral role in relationship with outside auditors
- CPA required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, graduate degree preferred
- 3-5 years public accounting experience or relevant accounting experience in a mid to large size corporation
- Strong Excel skills a must
- Experience with GL software -- Great Plains preferred
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to work independently and have strong sense of initiative when carrying through assignments; strong communication and presentation skills
- Supervisory experience a plus
Senior Accountant
Growing national company located in Brentwood TN desires a senior accountant to perform key functions in its accounting department. This position will report directly to the VP Finance, and encompasses a diverse, challenging range of accounting duties.
Essential Functions:
* Generate and record monthly journal entries for multi-company general ledger
* Utilize financial reporting software to create monthly statements and other reports
* Utilize separate software system to prepare quarterly and annual filings for submission to multiple states and the NAIC
* Manage statutory investments as required by insurance departments of multiple states
* Work with medical data analysts to ensure recording of complex costs/revenues
* Prepare quarterly and annual premium tax filings and reports
* Review and analyze IBNR claims to establish preliminary monthly liability
Education/Experience:
* Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, at least two full years of public accounting experience preferred, CPA a plus
* Prior health plan, health insurance or insurance industry experience desired
* Working knowledge of accounting systems and related reporting packages (Platinum and FRx is preferred) is required
* Must have knowledge and understanding of statutory accounting principles and major differences from GAAP
* Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential
* Ability to analyze accounts and accurately respond to senior management questions
* Ability to meet multiple ongoing deadlines in a very fast paced environment
* Demonstrate willingness to assist with any types of financial reporting or accounting projects as assigned

- Perform basic database functions such as: building database objects (tables, indexes, etc), creating and tuning PL/SQL procedures and SQL queries, managing data imports and exports between different systems, and creating and maintaining the data directory
- Analyze and resolve program and data base errors
- Update program settings, make required software configuration changes, etc.
- Write and modify database triggers to coordinate system processes; create processes to integrate this system with the other IS systems
- Create, enhance, and maintain management reports using Business Objects/Crystal Reports
- Work with users to define the information needed and the presentation required
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related discipline 3-5 years experience with Oracle version 9.0 or later creating stored procedures, triggers, and packages using PL/SQL required
- Experience with basic database functions desired
- Client server development experience using an object oriented language ( C+, Java, etc.) desirable but not required
- Experience with Crystal Reports version 8 or later desirable
- Experience with Unix operating system and shell scripting desirable
- Experience with CVS or similar version control systems is desirable
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry desirable
- Must have strong analytical and conceptual ability
- Any development based certification ( Oracle, Java, Visual Basic) a plus
